Coming home last night, I spotted Mrs Pigeon. She appears to have made her nest in one of the wooden drains around our courtyard. (They’re not real drains, just decoration to give the building an ‘old Arabian’ feel.’
I thought she might be unwell, as she was still sitting there the next day in the blazing sun.
There are two eggs there though and she’s moving around.
I can’t help but think that the eggs must be boiled by now. Then again, I am sadly ignorant when it comes to the mating and hatching habits of this particular bird.
Hopefully we’ll have a small pigeon family soon, although if the chicks do survive the sun when still in their eggs, I can’t see them lasting long if they hatch.

If the odds of success are so low, you could always ‘cut the losses’ on the the pigeon’s behalf, grill up a toast, fry some mushrooms, and well, … you know the rest.
